Megan was lured into her neighbor’s home, assaulted, and murdered by Jesse Timmendequas, a convicted sex offender who lived across the street—unknown to her family and the community. The public outcry after her murder led to the creation of “Megan’s Law,” a set of policies requiring public notification of sex offenders living in the community.
